NOTICE OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Construction Code Enforcement Division

Three (3) Positions Available

The Township of Little Egg Harbor is seeking qualified candidates to fill three (3) positions within its Construction Code Enforcement Division. All positions are governed by the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code (N.J.A.C. 5:23) and require current licensure issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA). Little Egg Harbor Township is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

POSITION 1: Construction Official

The Construction Official serves as the chief administrator of the local Construction Code Enforcement Office, responsible for supervising all subcode officials and technical staff, ensuring compliance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, and coordinating inspections and permit issuance for all construction activity within the Township.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Construction Official license issued by the NJDCA, or eligibility for such license.
  • Minimum of one (1) active subcode license in Building, Electrical, Plumbing, or Fire Protection.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction code enforcement, permit administration, and supervisory oversight.
  • Working knowledge of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code (N.J.A.C. 5:23).
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with municipal government operations preferred.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.

Salary/Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is subject to Township Committee approval and applicable Civil Service regulations.

 

POSITION 2: Electrical Subcode Official

The Electrical Subcode Official is responsible for reviewing permit applications, plans, and specifications, and conducting inspections of all electrical systems and installations within the Township to ensure compliance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and the National Electrical Code.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Electrical Subcode Official license issued by the NJDCA (HHS level or higher preferred).
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable New Jersey subcodes.
  • Experience performing electrical inspections in a municipal or state enforcement setting.
  • Ability to review and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.

Salary/Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is subject to Township Committee approval and applicable Civil Service regulations.

 

POSITION 3: Fire Protection Subcode Official

The Fire Protection Subcode Official is responsible for reviewing plans and applications and conducting inspections of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, suppression, alarm, and detection systems, to ensure compliance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and applicable fire protection standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Fire Protection Subcode Official license issued by the NJDCA (HHS level or higher preferred).
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and the New Jersey fire protection subcode.
  • Experience in fire protection system inspections in a municipal or state enforcement environment.
  • Ability to review construction documents and fire protection system specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.
