The Township of Little Egg Harbor, Ocean County, New Jersey, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Clerk 1 for the Tax Assessor Office.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Tax Assessor, this Clerk 1 position will also hold the responsibility of being the Field Representative for Little Egg Harbor Township and perform a variety of routine clerical duties, promoting efficient operation and recordkeeping for the Tax Assessor’s Office. Performs a variety of residential and commercial inspection work relating to the valuation of property. Manages public requests for information and providing excellent customer service to public sector in accordance with Township policy and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifying and locating property on a tax map; performing residential neighborhood inspections as assigned in order to reassess real property; performing sales, new construction, demolition, and other immediate inspections; completing new property record cards for all re-inspections; ability to determine building types, construction materials, and related data; ability to review and interpret data from blueprints and building plans; ability to examine and correct property data based on inspections; assists in processing 200 ft. property searches ; providing customer service by assisting taxpayers, appraisers, attorneys, and other entities in various areas of tax assessment; providing office support for the office of the Tax Assessor.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word and Excel. Experience with the BRT tax assessment system is a plus; HS grad/equiv. with assessment /appraisal experience preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

COMPENSATION

Salary range:  $16/hour.  Excellent benefits package including health insurance, pension, and paid time off.
